Recovered Silica RBS

Basic Product Overview:

  • Appearance: Gray-black powder
  • Main Composition:
    •  Primarily silicon dioxide (SiO2, 86.7%),
    •  with minor amounts of aluminum oxide (Al2O3, 7.93%), sodium oxide (Na2O, 1.96%), and iron oxide (Fe2O3, 1.44%), among others.
    •  In addition, due to the incorporation of paraffin oil during the production process, the treated product contains approximately 3% paraffin oil.
  • Structural Characteristics:  Possesses a porous structure with good adsorption performance; pH is approximately 7, indicating a neutral to slightly alkaline nature.

Characteristics:

  • pH is approximately 7, classified as neutral to slightly alkaline
  • Particle size falls within the medium-fine powder range, with D50 of approximately 23.9 μm
  • Specific gravity is approximately 2.6 g/cm³
Product Source and Environmental Advantages
  • Recycled Source:
The product is derived from the “white fume” material generated during the solar panel recycling process.
  • Low Heavy Metal Content:
Through a refining process, the product contains extremely low levels of heavy metals.
  • International Certifications:
It has passed REACH testing for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and complies with relevant RoHS requirements.
UL 2809 certification for recycled content / sustainability is currently in progress and is expected to be obtained in 2026, offering strong advantages in carbon reduction and environmental marketing.
Chemical Composition and Physical Property Features
  • High Silica Content:
The main component, silicon dioxide (SiO2), accounts for as much as 86.7%.
  • Abrasion Resistance and Reinforcement:
The product contains approximately 7.93% aluminum oxide (Al2O3), which can significantly improve the abrasion resistance of the end product.
  • Physical Properties:
    • Particle Size: D50 = 23.9 μm
    • Appearance: Naturally gray-black in color
    • Color Adjustment Suggestion: For white or light-colored applications, titanium dioxide may be added to improve whiteness.
Product Applications
  • When used in rubber compounds, this product serves as a functional filler.
  • It can be used as a partial replacement for, or in combination with, conventional fillers.
  • It helps adjust the following rubber properties:
    1. Hardness
    2. Tensile strength
    3. Elongation
    4. Processability
    5. Formulation cost balance
Recommended Application Areas

This product features high hardness and excellent adhesion, making it especially suitable for the following applications:

  • Paint and Coating Reinforcement:Improves coating hardness and enhances resistance to peeling.
  • Wear-Resistant Layer Materials:Suitable for surface treatment applications requiring high friction and abrasion resistance.
  • Rubber Fillers:
    • In natural rubber (NR), it can adjust hardness and significantly improve elongation (from 480% to 556%).
    • In nitrile rubber (NBR), its performance is comparable to conventional fillers and even slightly better than silica in terms of tensile strength.
    • In ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), it can significantly improve processing elasticity.
